Cheryl L. Austin graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a Master of Education in May 2015 and became a certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments in August 2015. She has since moved to Austin, Texas, where she is a full-time Residential Teacher at Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI). In this newly established role, Ms. Austin supports instruction in three critical areas of the expanded core curriculum, specifically: 1) independent living skills, 2) social interaction skills, and 3) recreation and leisure skills, the focus of programming during afterschool hours. Ms. Austin also holds a dual Master’s degree in Nutrition and Public Health from Boston University, and has been a Registered Dietitian since 1998. In her spare time, she enjoys fine food and wine, music, travel, and exploring her new city and state of residence with her husband, James, and their 11-year-old schnoodle, Lucy. Welcome Cheryl!
